GERMANIA-SPAGNA IN VATICANO, IL PAPA NON TIFA 'MA SARÀ INFORMATO' - GERMANY-SPAIN IN VATICAN, POPE DOESN'T FOLLOW IT 'BUT HE WILL BE INFORMED'

Benedict XVI, now in summer rest in Castel Gandolfo, will not watch TV tonight for the match Germany-Spain, but Vatican press officials ensure that "he will be informed about the result".
While elsewhere the Vatican does not lack a bit of excitement for the event. The game will certainly be followed in Rome, by Vatican secretary of state, Cardinal Tarcisio Bertone, known football fan. For those he will root for remains a small mystery. Maybe easier for Germany, not only because is Pope's country, but also for excesses of secularism of Zapatero's Spain, in these days new object of the protests of the bishops for new rules on abortion.
No match nor the director of the Vatican Press Office, Father Federico Lombardi, nor for the Osservatore Romano one, Giovanni Maria Vian, barely aware of the appointment.
A spanish senior priest confesses, however, he will see the game in a small community on the outskirts of Rome with several spanish priests and some extra in the middle of the match based on paella and sangria. "We trust in the intercession of Saint Fermin", said jokingly to Ansa, noting that today is the feast of the saint, famous for the running of the bulls in Pamplona. No embarrassment there to cheer against the "Pope's team"? "In football" - by adding the appropriate distinctions - "there are no saints".

GRECIA, POPE ULTRA' PUNITO DALLA CHIESA ORTODOSSA - GREECE, ULTRAS POPE PUNISHED BY ORTHODOX CHURCH
