Un gruppo di uomini di affari spagnoli ha offerto 30.000 euro per acquistare l'esemplare. Da Oberhausen, però, come risposta è arrivato un secco no.

Dopo il polpo Paul arriva il verdetto del coccodrillo Harry. Il predatore di 700 chili che vive nel parco di Darwin in Australia appoggia il polpo, nel pronostico della finale del Mondiale di calcio di Sudafrica 2010, e anche lui dice che vincerà la Spagna contro l'Olanda.

Il coccodrillo ci ha messo meno di minuto per decidere e lanciarsi fuori dell'acqua per mangiare il pollo con appesa la bandiera spagnola piuttosto che quello con la bandiera olandese.

Mick Burns, proprietario del Crocosaurus Cove, ha spiegato che gli è venuta l'idea del pronostico mondiale del coccodrillo dopo aver visto proprio il polpo Paul in Germania centrare i pronostici del Mondiale. L'ormai famoso polpo ha predetto tutti i risultati della Germania, data inoltre vincente nella sfida di questa sera per il terzo posto contro l'Uruguay, ed ha pronosticato che la Spagna vincerà domani sera la Coppa del Mondo.

Ma il coccodrillo Harry ha usato uno stile differente e secondo l'interpretazione di come ha afferrato il povero pollo e di quanto tempo ci ha messo «vuol dire sarà una partita combattuta ed aggressiva e che si chiuderà con il risultato di 1-0 per la Spagna», ha spiegato Burns.

Trenta autisti della società pubblica degli autobus di Shanghai sono stati sospesi dalla società di trasporto per la quale lavorano a causa della 'febbre' da Mondiali di calcio.
Secondo quanto riporta lo Shanghai Daily, infatti, sembra che i trenta autisti, dopo aver passato diverse notti insonni davanti alla tv per seguire le partite (in Cina per via del fuso orario la maggior parte vengono trasmesse di notte), arrivassero da giorni stanchissimi al mattino al lavoro tanto da rappresentare un pericolo per i passeggeri.
Alcuni di questi sono stati sorpresi con ai piedi le ciabatte o con indosso ancora il pigiama. Sempre lo Shanghai Daily riporta poi il caso di un padre che, per seguire in tranquillità e senza essere disturbato le partite, drogava il figlio di un anno con delle potenti pillole.
La polizia è stata allertata dalla mamma del bimbo, che tornata a casa dopo aver fatto un turno di notte al lavoro, ha notato che il bimbo non riusciva a svegliarsi. Il bambino è stato portato in ospedale dove i medici lo hanno dichiarato fuori pericolo. Il padre ha confessato alla polizia di aver dato al bimbo del sonnifero per farlo stare tranquillo e godersi la partita tra Germania e Inghilterra.

Delusione, rabbia per il clamoroso errore arbitrale e critiche veementi nei confronti di Fabio Capello. La stampa inglese non si fa mancare nulla all'indomani della sconfitta contro la Germania negli ottavi di finale dei Mondiali in Sudafrica.
Per il Daily Telegraph quella di ieri è "La peggiore sconfitta dell'Inghilterra in Coppa del Mondo" mentre il Daily Mail prova a buttarla sull'ironia: "Se i nostri si fossero difesi così male a quest'ora parleremmo tedesco", riferito alla prestazione disastrosa della retroguardia inglese paragonata a quanto vissuto oltremanica durante la seconda guerra mondiale.
"Un'Inghilterra umile sbattuta fuori dal mondiale", titola il Times che parla di "un sogno mondiale frantumato". L'errore della terna arbitrale sul gol fantasma di Franck Lampard è ovviamente in tante prime pagine. Per il Guardian l'errore rappresenta "Gli echi del '66, ma per la generazione d'oro del calcio inglese è tutto finito". La svista del direttore di gara uruguayano Jorge Larrionda non è però considerata una scusa per la cattiva prestazione della nazionale dei Tre Leoni: sul banco degli imputati c'è ovviamente Fabio Capello, reo, secondo il Daily Mirror, di guadagnare ben "Sei milioni di sterline ma di non valere un centesimo". Colpevole l'allenatore italiano - scrive il Guardian - "di essere stato cieco di fronte all'inesorabile deterioramento dei giocatori più esperti".
