INGHILTERRA: LO STUDIO, TROPPA CONCENTRAZIONE FA SBAGLIARE I RIGORI - ENGLAND: A RESEARCH, TOO CONCENTRATION IS BAD FOR PENALTIES

The last penalty for victory: the decisive moment in an athlete's life, what makes the difference between a an average professional and the champions. But just at that crucial it is easy to over concentration leads to mistake.
Now a new research by Birmingham University (GB), published in 'Current Direction in Psychological Science', reveals how too attention can cause a 'boomerang effect', hurting performance.
"When you are under pressure - said Rob Gray, author of the research - the whole attention contains  towards your body. You want to be sure that every muscle is working properly. But this 'super' concentration triggers a series of negative reactions in athletes and produces a negative effect on performance. Of course - warns Gray - athletes know that they should just relax and bring out the best, but it is not very useful remembre them".
In fact, research has shown that in these important moments the athlete under pressure tends to change some small things related to its technical performance, not adjustable from the eye of the profane, but crucial to success.
"The aim of the research - says psychologist - was to understand what really happens when someone starts to pay too much attention to his body". According to research there are details that may change in the athlete when he is too concerned: "For example, some baseball champions change the angle of the club head when it strikes a launch. This kind of sudden changes in the technical gestures known and repeated millions of times - warn researchers - can be identified when viewed in a specific way. And a coach can work with a professional to prevent this from occurring".
