BOLIVIA: ESPULSO, CALPESTA L'ARBITRO. STOP DI 20 TURNI - BOLIVIA: RED CARD AND HE TRAMPLES ON REFEREE. BANNED FOR 20 MATCHES

Il portiere del Bolivar e della Nazionale boliviana Carlos Arias è stato squalificato per 20 partite dall'organo disciplinare della sua Federcalcio per aver 'calpestato' un arbitro che stava per espellerlo dal campo.
Il curioso episodio è avvenuto la settimana scorsa in occasione della partita dei quarti di finale del campionato di prima divisione vinta 5-3 dal Potosi. Arias, 30 anni, quando ha visto l'arbitro estrarre il secondo cartellino giallo istintivamente si è avvicinato a lui e lo ha calpestato camminandogli sul piede.
Il giocatore si è giustificato dicendo che si è trattato di un gesto istintivo. L'arbitro Ivan Gamboa però non è stato dello stesso avviso e nel referto ha descritto l'accaduto come una «aggressione fisica». Il Bolivar ha già preannunciato un ricorso.
Arias è stato selezionato 28 volte per la Nazionale boliviana e ha giocato alcune partite della fase di qualificazione ai Mondiali 2010, nella quale la Bolivia si è piazzata al nono e penultimo posto della zona sudamericana.

The curious incident occurred last week at the quarter-final game of the first division won 5-3 by Potosi. Arias, 30 years old, when saw the referee take out the second yellow card instinctively approached him and trmapled on him walking on foot.
The player justified himsel telling that it was an instinctive gesture. The referee Ivan Gamboa, however, was not of the same mind and in the report described the incident as a "physical assault". The Bolivar has already announced an appeal.
Arias has been selected 28 times for the Bolivian National and played a few games of the 2010 World Cup qualifying phase, in which Bolivia was ranked ninth and penultimate place in the south american area.
