È l'inusuale richiesta fatta pervenire da un gruppo di militari birmani di stanza lungo il confine con la Thailandia ad alcuni allevatori thailandesi, dopo aver sequestrato parte del loro bestiame con l'obiettivo di vedere le partite dei mondiali di calcio.
Secondo quanto riportano i media birmani in esilio, 23 bufali sarebbero stati 'rapiti' da truppe birmane dopo che le bestie hanno attraversato il confine presso il villaggio nordorioentale di Lug Teng, a pochi chilometri da Mongton, nel sud dello Stato Shan, entrando in territorio controllato dai militari.
«I vostri bufali sono entrati nel nostro territorio e per questo dovrete pagarci con una parabola, un televisore e un telefono cellulare», avrebbero chiesto i militari, come racconta una testimone all'agenzia di stampa 'Shan Herald Agency'. La donna avrebbe inoltre dichiarato di aver offerto soldi ai militari birmani, i quali li avrebbero rifiutati, spiegando di preferire l'attrezzatura richiesta in modo da poter seguire i mondiali di calcio. «Ci è stato detto di consegnare il materaile il prima possibile», ha aggiunto la testimone.
Un secondo allevatore ha accusato i militari di aver espressamente rubato i 23 bufali per chiedere il riscatto. «I nostri bufali non sono mai andati oltre il confine, il filo spinato è stato reciso dai militari», ha affermato all'agenzia, con sede in Thailandia. Al momento, 20 dei bufali 'rapiti' sarebbero stati restituiti in cambio di garanzie di pagamento. I restanti tre saranno rilasciati solo dopo che la richiesta sarà stata esaudita.
