Maxischermi ai piedi della Torre Eiffel, interi stadi monopolizzati per guardare le partite e persino il messaggio di incoraggiamento su Facebook del presidente Nicolas Sarkozy: è in trepidante attesa la Francia per il fischio d'inizio dei Mondiali di calcio sudafricani, dove questo pomeriggio i Bleus esordiranno contro l'Uruguay.
«Ho appena avuto una lunga conversazione telefonica con Raymond Domenech (il ct della nazionale francese) - ha scritto Sarkozy su Facebook - per esprimere il mio sostegno alla squadra. Gli ho detto che tutto il Paese tiferà per i Bleus in questo campionato, affinchè la Nazionale porti in alto i colori della Francia e i valori dello sport francese. Viva i Bleus!».
Ieri, anche i maggiori quotidiani francesi hanno dedicato alla Nazionale ampi servizi. Le Figaro parla della passione calcistica dei politici, in particolare quella del presidente Sarkozy, e il giornale sportivo L'Equipe si interessa al «piccolo capo», Franck Ribery, che giocherà a sinistra: «Sta a lui dimostrare domani contro l'Uruguay, che può guidare i Bleus verso la luce».
Per quanto riguarda la sfida con l'Uruguay, meno della metà dei francesi (41%) è convinto che i vice-campioni del mondo vinceranno, il 34% scommette su un pareggio e il 21% su una sconfitta. Sempre secondo lo stesso studio, pubblicato dall'Istituto Opinion Way, meno di un francese su cinque (il 18%) punta sulla vittoria della Francia in Sudafrica.
