Diego Armando Maradona ha preteso un bagno tutto nuovo nel Centro di alto rendimento dell'Università di Pretoria, scelto quale ritiro dalla Nazionale argentina per la prima parte del Mondiale di calcio. La notizia, diffusa dal domenicale sudafricano Sunday Times, è stata ripresa dai media argentini con l'avvertenza che è di quelle capaci di provocare facili ironie e sfottò nei confronti del Pibe de oro. Secondo il giornale sudafricano, il direttore sportivo della Seleccion ha chiesto ai responsabili del centro di sostituire lavandino e water e di aggiungere un bidè, questi ultimi debitamente riscaldati.

Uno speciale wc high-tech con tavoletta riscaldata; un flusso d'aria calda integrato e bidet elettronico con spruzzi a tre diversi livelli di velocità. A quanto pare un oggetto a cui il cinquantenne non può rinunciare durante il Mondiale.

Il quotidiano sportivo Olè aggiunge, riferito a Maradona, che «ora le battute ironiche saranno tutte per lui».
Il bagno nuovo di Maradona non è però l'unica richiesta imposta allo staff del centro sportivo, tra cui: le pareti delle camere dipinte di bianco, 6 Playstation,14 tipi diversi d'insalata e gelato a disposizione 24 ore su 24.
