Al Manchester City sarà concessa una deroga speciale per richiamare d'urgenza un portiere in prestito prima della scadenza alla fine della stagione, lo riporta la BBC Sport.

Shay Given salterà le ultime tre gare dopo un problema alla spalla nel pareggio a reti bianche contro l'Arsenal sabato. Anche Stuart Taylor è fuori e John Hart (nella foto) è in prestito al Birmingham, quindi rimane disponibile solo il giovanissimo Gunnar Nielsen.

City, Aston Villa, Tottenham e Liverpool sono tutte in corsa per il quarto posto in campionato, ovvero per la pioggia di milioni in caso di qualificazione alla Champions League. Lo scorso mese anche al Chelsea capitò una situazione simile di carenza di numero uno, quando Ross Turnbull rimase l'unico portiere a disposizione per la sfida contro il West Ham che costrinse i Blues a promuovere in panchina un ragazzino della Primavera, Rhys Taylor. Nielsen, giovane portiere delle isole Far Oer non ha mai giocato in Premier League fino a quei 17 minuti nel pareggio all' Emirates in sostituzione di Given, costretto a lasciare il campo. Tuttavia, il tecnico Roberto Mancini non si fida di Nielsen e non puo' permettersi di rischiare in questo momento cruciale della stagione nella corsa alla Champions League. Il City, sesto in classifica, non potrebbe richiamare Hart che, secondo le regole della Premier, è in prestito permanente fino a fine stagione al St Andrew's, mentre l'ex portiere dell'Arsenal Taylor, si sta ancora riprendendo da un intervento chirurgico al ginocchio. "Per quanto ne so al momento - resto qui", ha detto Hart. "Sono molto contento di quello che sto facendo con i miei compagni del Birmingham in campionato e sto cercando di ripagare i loro sforzi con le mie prestazioni". Il nazionale iralndese Shay Given è diventato un elemento indispensabile tra i pali del City da quando è arrivato dal Newcastle, nel febbraio 2009. La sua presenza ha costretto Hart, 23 anni, a cercare opportunità in prima squadra al di fuori di Eastlands. "Sono sconvolto per Shay" - ha aggiunto Hart - "Gli ho mandato un messaggio. Non si augura a nessuno un infortunio, soprattutto poi a uno come lui, un grandissimo portiere e un'ottima persona. Tutto quello che posso fare è augurargli una pronta guarigione e spero che torni tra i pali il più rapidamente possibile". Nielsen, invece, ha firmato per City nel 2009 a parametro zero dal Blackburn Rovers.

However, City boss Roberto Mancini has no back-up for Nielsen and cannot risk losing another stopper at such a crucial stage as the club push for the fourth Champions League place. Sixth-placed City cannot recall England international Hart under the terms of his season-long loan deal at St Andrew's, while former Arsenal keeper Taylor is still recovering from knee surgery. "As far as I know, that's the way it is - I will be staying here," said Hart. "I really enjoy what I'm doing with the boys at Birmingham and in training and just try to repay their efforts with my performances." Republic of Ireland international Given has been an integral figure between the posts for City since joining from Newcastle in February 2009. His presence forced Hart, 23, to seek first-team opportunities outside of Eastlands. "I am devastated for Shay," Hart added. "I texted him. You don't want that to happen to anyone, especially someone like him, a really great keeper and a good person. All I can do is wish him a speedy recovery and hope he gets back between the posts as quickly as possible". Nielsen, instead, joined City in 2009 on a free transfer from Blackburn Rovers.
